Absolute holiday... with a twist

Joanne Lee describes a seven-day detox challenge she went on recently.
IN ALL my years as a journalist, I had never been on a junket. After all, Absolute Sanctuary is the place one of Thailand's princesses goes to for yoga classes and where supermodel Elle "The Body" McPherson goes to for detox when they are in Koh Samui. How could I turn such an amazing opportunity down? My first junket! So after flying over on the evening Bangkok Airways flight with my sister Janice for company, we had one last hurrah at Chaweng in downtown Koh Samui with a couple of drinks and it was early to bed. At 7am on the first day, there was a knock on the door. It was the first of my four detox juice drinks for the day, accompanied by health supplements packed in five little ziplock bags. Oh boy. Honestly, as ready for the first press junket of my journalistic career as I was, even I had to stop and wonder if I would survive such a gruelling seven-day programme. I've never been the dieting or exercise type, so would I be able to accept the Ultimate Detox challenge? Bets, anyone? It's worrying.
The blogs page is dull.
The Online Editor has not offered any new blogs for too long awhile now.
It cannot be she is suffering from writers cramp.
As I hear it ,she is still, as of this week,. still prowling the corridors of ST and still in her own private office.
So she is not on another junket, a honeymoon or ill or heaven forbid, quit.
Anyone else know more?
@111: You cannot be serious in expecting the Online Editor to do anything different than a ..."me... me" blog.
The ST does not know or allow their journalists to do a ..."you...you" (as in us, the long suffering readers)blog because they care tuppence about us. Need I elaborate?
Meanwhile if the Online Ed is serious enough to care; she might take a good long look at the ST blogs and notice the ever so few to "nil poi" replies it is attracting. This should tell her that readers aint interested in what her fellow jouno's are writing about.
Sigh..
@jaymee: As a public service gesture on my part, you might like to try bookmarking this site, if you are really really really interested enough.

when is the next post coming up??
a "me me me" blog
Hya Joanne: I wasn't, at least this time, trying to be funny.
What I should have said was its not for the Ah Lians as it will be too expensive. I am not too sure if a journalist cannot afford it. Ha , ha.
But no problem whatsoever enjoying the perk. Its part of the job to experience and tell us all about it.
We wait with bated breath the next instalment.
Will we get to see any any "after" pictures ? C'mon , don't be shy.
