SINGAPORE, one thinks, is where eletrical goods come at fair prices. But not always.
I have been looking for a video camera to record family events, but prices have left me scratching my head.
The price for the Canon HF100 - a high-def cam - is at a "promotional" price of $1,899. Some "freebies" have been thrown including a $180 Swensen voucher.
But on Canon's USA website, the suggested retail price for this video cam is US$799. The same cam is sold on Amazon for US$529.
That works out to around $800 here.
That means there is more than a $1,000 price difference for the same product.
Why?
